Where would I go dressed like this?

Enjoying a Sunday family brunch in a fancy restaurant or just an any-day-of-the-week-lunch with my fabulous girlfriends. By pairing the skirt with a tailored black blazer I can use this outfit even as a bold work wear. I would simply make sure that the rest of the outfit is kept simple, for instance by swapping the red patent leather shoes with a pair of classic black pumps or with black ankle boots (a great option for those ladies working in the creative industry) and the kimono recrafted pochette from My Moniko with a black tote.

Where would I not go dressed like this?

I would not visit a zoo or a safari park wearing animal print clothes. I happened to read an interesting article a while ago about the change of behavior of some animals in cases of humans wearing animal prints. Some will be frightened and escape. Not too bad of a thing being taken for a real leopard, but I would definitely avoid wearing zebra stripes and get too close to a lion or a tiger ☺

Who could wear this outfit?

If you aren’t afraid of boasting a full booty, a skin-tight shiny leopard print skirt is one of the best choices you can make. As for the tailored blazer, I am guessing you own one. If not, allow me to remind you that this is a stylish, must have piece you will wear time and again. Not sure which is your style? A wardrobe editing session with a stylist will not only give you knowledge about what to keep and what to toss from your current wardrobe, but also what are the pieces you should invest in, based on your figure, personality, lifestyle, age and budget.

The add-ons: Accessorizing a leopard print with a few bright spots of red and gold is a fabulous idea, but one needs to know when to stop. Match your red shoes with a red lipstick! A red nail polish is classy: keep it! A little red in the handbag is fab too, but let’s not take it too far by adding a belt, a scarf and a poodle with a red collar to the combo ☺ (of course exception is made for sausage dogs with red collars)

A little thought about the colours: We see the experts mixing prints and patterns and playing with texture all the time and we love the way they do it, don’t we? You know what? It is not that difficult after all. For this look I picked two different prints that share a couple of colours (leopard print skirt and kimono recrafted bag). This is one way of mixing prints and patterns. For more inspiration you can check Pinterest. You will find tons of suggestions.

How did I feel while wearing it? I felt bold and dynamic like a graceful big cat.

Any compliments? ‘Hey, I like your style!’ I promise you, ladies, somebody around me said the sacred words every woman loves hearing 😉

Little curiosity: The leopard print skirt was originally a skin-tight, shiny leopard print dress, which I was hardly wearing. I always believed in the versatility of skirts, but that’s me, because I love playing with outfits and a skirt gives me way more options than a dress. To prove you the eternality of the animal print I will put a date on it. I snapped the leopard print dress in a cute hidden boutique in Florence back in the early 2000s ☺ So let’s roar together this season ladies! Every self-respecting-brand is offering a variety of skirts, dresses, jackets and accessories in a leopard print this season. What is on your animal-print-wish-list this season?  I am going hunting for a pair of leopard heels! There is something bold out there for every body shape, lifestyle and budget! Go find yours and unlock that wild sexiness and femininity you own!

The most user friendly Colour-Correcting Make Up

I had the perfect, glowing flawless skin that did not require any whatsoever Make Up. It happened twice in my life during pregnancies. I had to use a magnifier to find the slightest imperfection on my face. Those times are gone and gave space to under eye dark circles and to the oh-so-hated pimples. Genetics? Pollution? Lack of sleep? Too much sugar in the coffee? Too much coffee? A balanced, healthy lifestyle is on my every day list. While sometimes I make it and sometimes I don’t, I learnt a few beauty hacks in between so that I could always achieve glowing, flawless skin without getting pregnant 🙂

When I was a grumpy teen, the solution to nasty pimples was getting in the bathroom without turning on the light so that I would not see them in the mirror, in my fourties I am no longer escaping from the imperfections, but taking care of them with the best tools I know.

Here is one: A Colour Me Beautiful Corrective Concealer Wheel

Let me show you how it works through the awesome short video (just one minute) that I created especially for my followers.  As usual, video viewers will be rewarded with a special discount. Just click on the link, simply enter PAVLETA10 in the COUPON CODE section at checkout and you will receive a 10% DISCOUNT

I am using mostly the yellow and the mint green. What are the colours that you need the most?

  • Lavender – to counteract yellow tones, brighten dull and sallow skins
  • Mauve – to counteract brown tones, brighten dark/age spots and dullness
  • Mint green – to counteract high colouring (redness), broken capillaries, rosacea and sunburn
  • Yellow – to counteract ‘purple’. Use to cover mild redness and under-eye dark circles.

Achieve a flawless look in two easy steps:

  • Step 1 – Dot a neutralizing concealer on carefully and blend with your fingertips slightly past the edges of the problem.
  • Step 2 – Follow with a foundation matched to your skin tone. Pat on foundation with a sponge or fingertips in a downward motion so you don’t make the hairs on your face stand up. Let set. And apply powder.

The Morning Light Foundation is another one of my favourite Colour Me Beautiful Cosmetics. I love the feel of this liquid foundation as well as the coverage. It absorbs and blends really well and it gives a flawless and natural finish. What is interesting about this product is the light-diffusing complex that deflects light from the surface of the skin thereby minimising the visibility of fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration. Just click on the link enter PAVLETA10 in the COUPON CODE section at checkout and you will receive a 10% DISCOUNT

And, if you are running out of blush and just in case you would love to look healthier, younger and radiant, take the chance to try Colour Sense Mineral Blush from Colour Me Beautiful. That’s the one I am applying at the end of the video. Get it here. Same discount details apply.

Dark circles, pimples and 10 years off my face 😉 Give it a try! You will love it!

Dreaming of  having effortlessly perfect eyebrows?

You should try microblading. The technique of implanting pigment after the creation of fine incisions in the skin may date back thousands of years, but the term microblading was forged only in recent years and the service became a real trend amongst beauty and style devotees around the world. This year, for the first time in my life, I decided to get rid of the eyebrow pencil and frame forever (or almost) my face with a pair of perfectly designed eyebrows by one of the Hong Kong microblading gurus, Patrick Henri.

Let me share my experience through the awesome short video (just one minute) that I created especially for my followers. Of course I want you to read the full blog, but I know that you guys love visual 😉 Besides, video viewers will be rewarded with a special discount.

Simply mention ‘Stylisheyebrows’ when booking your appointment and you will get:

  • a free of charge consultation and an anti allergy test against pigments;
  • a special price of 4,300 HK $ (full price 4,800) valid until September 30, 2018 (1st session needs to be completed by September 30, 2018)

Here is what you wanna know about Patrick’s Microblading services:

  • The shape of the eyebrows is personalised, according to client style and needs;
  • Procedure is done in 2 sessions, 3-4 weeks apart;
  • Organic pigments from Germany and Holland are used (they do not contain Iron Oxide);
  • The experience is painless;
  • Healing time is approximately 7 days depending on client’s aftercare routine.  Heavy sweating and contact with water during this time should be avoided (no boxing, cross fit under the sun and no swimming pool, but hey, you can still have a glass of prosecco 😉
  • Anti bacterial, anti fungal aftercare is available at the studio and should be applied to speed up the healing process.

And since your beautiful face and the destiny of your favourite hairy spot on the face (just guessing you are not lovingly growing a moustache) will be in Patrick’s hands, I am sure you want to know a little bit more about him:

Patrick Henri is originally from Belgium (now you have one more reason to like the country, producing the best chocolate in the world, if it is ever possible that something food related is better than in Italy 🙂 Sorry, Patrick…Hm… is this the reason why Patrick lived in Milan for 18 years?  Although I am sure he enjoyed everything about Italy, Patrick spent his time learning Make Up techniques while working for some of the best fashion brands we have ever heard and representing them around the globe, Versace and YSL. He is in fact an incredible Makeup artist and a devoted trainer with 20 years of experience. Patrick studied Microblading, also known as feathering in London, Hong Kong and Korea.  His clientele is from all around the world. In two words: JUST TRUST THE GUY!

Here is me, before the treatment:

natural looking eyebrows

And here you can see the beautiful, naturally looking eyebrows Patrick designed on my face. Cheers to him!

By now I am hoping you are completely convinced that microblading is not some sort of a complicated, scary, painful operation. I am telling you, it is scarier to get rid of unwanted hair…ask your husband…he’d rather get a tattoo 😉

Cool beach essentials: create your own chic flip-flops at Lavulous Workshop

Hello Style Lovers!

Do you like the idea of creating a pair of flip flops that are as unique as you are? This summer, uplift your mood and style with a pair from Lavulous Workshop, the only place in Hong Kong where you can become the designer of  your own flip flops and turn the most casual of shoes into a stylish one.

But hey, let’s focus on the awesome video below. Of course I want you to read the full blog, but I know that you guys love visual 😉

First things first, I called the Lavulous beautiful creations beach essentials because I believe that the beach is no place to compromise with style, but these gorgeous step-ins can easily transform into a key ingredient of one’s every day casual-wear mix. Wear them with casual shorts or capri pants, with jeans or casual short skirts or even with maxi skirts and dresses and step into your favourite summer activities with style.

Now, I really feel like sharing with you a couple of important rules I think it is good to follow when designing your own personalised flip-flops:

Rule number one: Less is more! Not an easy statement, I admit, and, I am telling you, I adore colour and all-things-blinky …but I am saying this because I am certain that the impressive variety of  fun pins, flowers, butterflies, Swarovski rivets and clasps will make you feel like decorating the whole strap…stick with a couple or three accessories on each side instead and you are good to go 🙂

Rule number two: More is more! If you are doing this with your children, and unless you want to ruin the whole fun, let them choose whatever sole and strap colour they fancy and pin whatever accessories they want, dolphins, soccer balls, flowers, letters…If, at a certain point you start feeling dizzy and unsure that the activity will ever end, here is what you can say “Honey, I love your design, but aren’t your flip-flops getting a little bit too heavy? Let’s stop now ’cause you will not be able to walk with them” . If this still doesn’t work, tell them you are gonna buy ice-cream 😉 . This statement works for kids the same way ‘Let’s go have a glass of bubbly’ works for me 🙂 Bubbly mama promise!

Let’s take a moment to go through the whole flip-flop designing process.

First, you get to choose the sole and the strap colour. You might think it takes a lot of imagination to decide what combo looks the best. You are wrong. Look at the picture below. I was quite impressed by the simple geniosity of this tool. It works like a Chinese rotating dining table, just what goes around here aren’t noodles,  but straps. Even if you completely lack of imagination, there is very little room for mistake as you will see exactly how your flip-flops will look. Quite handy, isn’t it?

Now it is time for ….hands on. With the help of the Lavulous assistant, your straps will get in place while you are selecting the accessories. Click this, pin that and in a few minutes your new funky flip-flops are ready to walk you out of the shop. Just stretch your toes and be joyful!

Here is what I created: two pairs for my beloved feet, one for my son and one for my niece. For those of you who are wondering where is the pair for my eldest son. Well, he wanted to design it himself and he followed the more is more rule! Good boy!

Here it is, my eldest son’s creation 🙂 You can tell what he really loves, blue, dogs, dolphins and his…name, which is actually good.

I am guessing that by now you got really excited about Lavulous and creating your own flip-flops. One last advice, do it with your girlfriends or with your kids and call it a party, a themed party 😉

Designer kaftans from Kaprice Hong Kong

Hello Style Lovers!

Do you like the idea of silky, light clothes that help you hide the unwanted weight around waist and hips while making you actually look and feel like a diva? You need a kaftan! But not just any kaftan. You need a kaftan from Kaprice.

Why Kaprice? Beside being worn by celebrities like Anita Chui and Anzhelika Tahir on the Red Carpet of Cannes Film Festival (check Kaprice’s Facebook page for more inspiration and Diva looks from Cannes), the kaftans, dresses and tunics of the world-famous brand are perfectly tailor made in the most luxurious materials like Satin, Crepe, Silk and Georgette and come in a variety of shapes, colours and enchanting digital prints. Looking for a more dramatic appeal? Choose a kaftan with embellishments like Swarovski crystals and beautiful shells and you will need nothing else to enter the scene like a modern-day Goddess. But hey, let’s focus on the awesome video below. Of course I want you to read the full blog, but I know that you guys love visual and love watching real people … In today’s video I am styling Kate, a Pilot, and Denise, a Manager. So next time you see someone wearing a colourful kaftan at your plane’s flight deck, say Hi to Kate 😉

Now, I really feel like sharing with you a couple of important rules when choosing a kaftan in case you are not accompanied by a personal shopper…Since we are talking about some really vibrant, colourful clothes, here is my rule number one:

Choose a kaftan in nuances that harmonise with your natural colouring. Are you a Light Spring? A Warm Autumn? A Cool Winter? Once you discovered what is your colouring, you will clearly see the difference between blue based and yellow based colours, bright or muted colours, deep or light colours and as a result you will easily see which ones make you look healthier and younger. To know more about how to find out what is your colouring, click here

Determining the colours that will best look on someone is a creative job, rather than requiring prescriptive rules, so while styling Kate and Denise, I decided that they were two really cool ladies 🙂 as cool as a Cool Summer and they both looked great in kaftans with blue based nuances. As you saw in the video, we experimented with a few different lengths and patterns. Here is one of the kaftans I selected for Kate and we all agreed that she looked fabulous in it. What do you guys think?

The original price of this silk chiffon kaftan is 2,100 HK$, but video viewers can have it for 1,680 HK$ by using code ‘stylish20. Visit Kaprice’s showroom, try it on and claim your 20% discount.

However, what you are seeing in the picture below became so far Kate’s absolute favourite tunic. We all agreed that a shorter tunic in cool tones was one of the best choices for her height, scale and colouring and she added that she could wear something like this quite easily hence we covered her lifestyle and style personality too…Kate had to buy the tunic 🙂 Kate’s new kaftan is made in georgette and its original price is HK$ 1200. You think you are going to look good in it? Visit Kaprice’s showroom, try it on and claim your video viewer discount by mentioning code ‘stylish20’. You will receive : 20 % off and will be able to grab Kate’s favourite for HK$ 960 only.

A little bit more about the choice of colours. Can you think of anything warmer than orange and gold? I felt like a sunshine in this stunning kaftan. Here is the thing, orange is one of the best colours in my palette but is completely absent in Kate and Denise’s palettes…While they are two Cool Summers, with my red hair tones I fully classify as a Warm Autumn. See, I can hardly swap clothes with Kate and Denise but they are besties, they can. You think you are going to look good in the chiffon kaftan you are seeing me wearing in the picture below?  Tick it off with 50% discount immediately by clicking here: https://www.kaprice.hk/product-cate…/new-collection/kaftans/

My rule number two when choosing a kaftan for myself or for a client is to carefully consider the scale of the person when selecting pattern and length of the kaftan. A petite woman will generally look better in a kaftan with smaller print patterns, while a taller, grand woman will look more attractive in larger, bolder prints. If you love the kaftans but hate shopping, if you love shopping, but do not have enough time, if you want to have a knowledgable person with great eye and flair helping you select the color and cut of clothing that creates the image you want to portray consider hiring a personal shopper, alias me 🙂 Click here to know more about the service.

But hey, as I said, at Kaprice there is a kaftan for everyone. Take the chance to soak in the endless ocean of colours, lengths, shapes and prints. Swimming in silk and chiffon is after all the ultimate pleasure of every self respecting modern day Goddess 🙂

Yes, you DO deserve to be Fabulous at 50

In the infinity of time and beauty of life, and if I could have any impact over the rest of the women, I’d love to inspire every woman on Earth to think of herself as ageless in place of ageing. I am here to tell you that we can be fabulous and desirable at every age. We all have seen admirable women at the age of 50,60,70 and over. What is it that they have in common? Those women never stopped believing in themselves, being curious about life and everything it has to offer, walking and standing straight, dressing stylishly and generally nurturing themselves as if they were Goddesses. This has nothing to do with the plastic surgeries, the trendiest or priciest clothes, the most expensive creams. This has to do with the love we must project towards our own selves, the conviction that we do have the right to be in the centre of our own world and the desire to nurture our bodies and souls in the same way we do it as mothers, daughters, sisters and wives. And, if someone dares telling you that this equals being selfish, do not listen. They are wrong. Just keep taking care of yourself. They will get used to it 🙂

So our bubbly model, Gil, was treated first to a:

Brunette, blond, red hot, super long, masculine short, somewhere in the middle, in a bob a la Cleopatra,spaghetti straight, playfully curly…yes, I played all those roles and what is it that allowed me to spice up my look? Yes, you guessed it. The almighty locks!!! Hair is definitely not my best asset, but a great hairdresser always managed to make me feel like a diva in the same way a bad hairdresser made me go back home and frantically rewash my hair or recut my fringe in the desperate attempt to regain my broken self esteem. Are you trying to figure out what to do with your hair? Jean Louis David Hong Kong hairstylists have got some great ideas for you.

What came next was a:

Sometimes I love to call myself a closet ninja…I seriously needed to master some fighting/escaping skills in the past years to defend myself from tangled hangers, crumbling shoes hidden in the most remote corners of otherwise harmless cabinets, handbags niched and falling off the highest shadowy shelf of a tall unfriendly closet. Does this sound familiar? I have offered my services to many women, most of them are leaders, managers or business women, but hey, closets are closets and they can get messy and chaotic especially when one have to jiggle between a full time job, family and the ohhh so endless list of priorities.

Check my war with Gil’s closet. I had to fight many battles, but at the end I won the war ;-). For more information about what to expect from a wardrobe editing session click here

What’s more, if you book a wardrobe editing session on May and mention CODE STYLISHAT50 you will enjoy 10 % discount.

Gil wanted to see her skin more radiant and de-stressed , so we offered her

All you have to do is…give it a try. You will see the results immediately. Now you all know one of my secret ‘Ageless Goddess’ weapons :-)Last but not least, for the hygiene freaks out there, the place is spotless, fragranced and cozy. The icing on the cake was Gil’s

We are so blessed to live in an era when we do not have to mix mineral powder and animal fat ourselves to create our own make up nor we have to use sticks of bone or wood to apply the eyeliner like the Ancient Egyptians did…Can you imagine how time consuming that would be? The cosmetics industry is now offering a product for every need, taste and wallet. So there is no excuse for a woman to neglect this simple self caring ritual. With the help of our Make Up expert Tatiana Igoshkina, Gil was able to learn how to apply her Make Up as a pro. In a crazy busy morning, all she needs now is 2…minutes.  Tatiana has been trained by World Champions in «Dolores» Academy; she is Moscow Make-up Champion Golden Winner, first prize in the «Runway» nomination; Best make-up artist of “Wedding” magazine, Moscow; The author of unique make-up teaching technique «Always a Star»…Ok, there is really a lot this talented lady from Novosibirsk, Russia,  has achieved. Just check her website here 🙂 and make sure you book your session with her in advance. She is kind of…busy too 😉

So…Start making up some time for yourselves without feeling guilty, without being apologetic, without accepting any blame from others. How much you are giving every day? Start looking for the fine line of balance between giving and receiving and start accepting when you are offered, asking when you need to, and stop wondering if you should or should not take that facial and what your partner will say. For us, women, daughters, sisters, wives, mothers, nurturing comes natural and it often becomes a mission. The mission becomes a habit. The habit grows and takes so much of our time that we completely forget about our own needs, pleasures , dreams and desires. Why should we not cut our hairs for two years? Why should we not make up one hour for a facial treatment? Why should we remind everyone about everything by default just to end up rushing out of home completely stressed, without even finding those two minutes of time to apply a decent make up? Why should we never ever have time to fix our own closets while we do fix our husbands’ ?

If what matters is the NOW, I do not want to stop the feeling of loving and accepting myself the way I am and…investing in a few completely gratifying, non invasive treatments that will demonstrate that love and care: a couple of facials, a nice haircut, some uplifting make up and a wardrobe detox.
